At TheCCSGroup, weâve always believed in facing forward. Innovation, resilience, and strategic thinking have been our guiding stars as we work with communities and organizations to unlock their full potential.
But sometimes, itâs worth pausingâto look back, to reflect on the victories, and to let those wins remind us of the good weâve achieved and the changes weâve assisted in making. Because those stories donât just celebrate the past; they fuel the future.
Thatâs why weâre proud to introduce our new video series: âLooking Backâ
â where we highlight some of the meaningful successes weâve shared with our clients over the years. Stories that deserve to be told. Stories that inspire whatâs next.
Episode 1: A 20-Year Journey with Batchewana First Nation
Our first story is a testament to long-term partnership and visionary leadership. Since 2006, Batchewana First Nation has entrusted us to help bring transformative change to their community. What began as an idea for a new health centre projected for 2025 turned into something far greater â and much sooner than anyone expected.
Through strategic engagement with federal and provincial governments, alongside the leadership of Chief Dean Sayers, we helped accelerate approval timelines and reimagine what health delivery could look like in Northern Ontario.
By 2008, we werenât just talking about possibilities â we were building them.
The result? One of the largest and most comprehensive health centres in Northern Ontario. Affectionately called the âJewel of the North,â it showcased a new model for care:
Funding from Indigenous Services Canada - Conservative Government at the Time
Funding from Northern Ontario Heritage Fund
Partnership with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine
A unique dry lab partnership with NOSM and Batchewana First Nation
A range of innovative health services designed to meet the communityâs evolving needs
This project not only galvanized support across levels of government but also became a blueprint for future-forward Indigenous health care infrastructure.
A Relationship That Endures
Today, nearly 20 years later, Batchewana First Nation remains a valued client â a reflection of mutual respect, trust, and shared vision. And weâre proud of every step weâve taken together.
